Puffed Trims
Continue your journey into 18th century Passementerie with this course on making puffed trims. This content is also available in the complete passementerie course.
This class focuses on a new style of connections to create additional trim options. These can be formed by hand or with the help of a loom. The end result is these darling puffs of silk that add color and dimension to your projects.
In this class...
You will learn how to create the "puffed" style of trims discussed in the history section of the Basics class. This style is the second most common style documented on late 18th century gowns.
This class assumes you already know the basics of making knotted fringes, or "fly fringe," from the Basics class or in-person classes. Those topics are not covered again in this class.
You'll learn how to create puffed trims both with and without a loom. Lessons include 6 different styles of puffed trim based on extant examples, as well as detailed photos of these trims on period gowns.
As part of this class, you have ongoing access to the instructor through the comments section of the class as well as a private Facebook group.
